We offer dental appliances such as bite guards and mouth guards to help protect your smiles.
Why are mouth guards important?
Sports guards, also known as mouth guards, are important to protect your kid's teeth during activities.
Patients as young as 5 years old as well as adults can receive mouth guards for protection.
We want to protect the smiles of your family.
Since many sports such as hockey, football and basketball use mouth guards, we recommend your child have a good fitting, custom mouth guard. This will help protect them during their activities.
How are mouth guards made?
At Wellspring Dental, we make a mouth guard that is custom to your child's teeth. We take impressions of your child's teeth and will create a customized mouth guard to fit their mouth.
Bite guards may be offered to patients who are experiencing headaches, sore jaws which are caused by teeth clenching and grinding.
Night teeth grinding, also called bruxism, can lead to:
- neck and shoulder pain
- difficulty chewing
- earaches or headaches
- sore and stiff jaw muscles
- clicking or tenderness in your jaw joints
- difficulty opening and closing your mouth
How do you treat teeth grinding?
Relieving symptoms can be done through stretching and relaxing muscles through certain exercises.
Your dentist may recommend pain medication along with a bite guard to help relieve symptoms.
Understanding the source of your teeth grinding pain is important for both you and your dentist.
How do bite guards work?
A bite guard (also called a night guard) helps by keeping your teeth propped open protecting them from direct wear.
The grinding that occurs while you sleep will wear down the appliance instead of your teeth.
